Hi, my name is Reena A. Garg, MD, and today I'll be presenting data regarding real-world safety outcomes in 575 eyes that received biointerventionaluveoscleral outflow enhancement (AlloFloUveo; Iantrek).
It was very interesting to talk about the CREST study because, in these 575 eyes, there was only a 15% adverse event rate after 2 years. More importantly, at 2 years, only 65% of eyes that would otherwise have been considered for bleb-forming surgery remained free of such procedures.
What we learned is that not only was uveoscleral outflow enhancement with bioreinforcement safe, it was also incredibly effective in delaying the need for bleb-forming surgery.
Finally, at the end of 2 years, we saw that these patients had about a 30% reduction from baseline IOP and were down by 1 medication from baseline.
It’s reassuring to see that this enhancement of uveoscleral outflow is not only safe but also effective and can potentially delay or postpone the need for bleb-forming procedures. GP
