■ Patients seek doctors who offer an overall positive experience with an emphasis on timeliness, a friendly staff, and the use of modern technology, according to a survey from technology company ModMed. The survey, conducted by research firm OnePoll, asked 2,000 patients about their experience with a doctor’s office and found that 73% of patients are likely to keep a “mental scorecard” of all their likes and dislikes. Patients give providers an average of 4 chances before finding a new doctor.
According to the survey, 60% of patients are likely to select one doctor over another if they are able to make appointments online, and 61% value ease of payment when staying with a provider.
“These days, practices make an impression on patients from before they walk in the door until long after they’ve left. There are countless touchpoints providers have with patients where they can influence a positive experience,” said ModMed CEO Daniel Cane. “We wanted to provide these insights so providers can stop guessing what’s important to patients and instead be in a position to enhance or create a health-care delivery model that is more in line with today’s connected consumer.”
