■ FDA granted 510(k) clearance for Icare Home2, the company’s next-generation self-tonometer, iCare announced. Patients follow the smart light guide and the interactive display screen to use the tool, and the company noted that the new design also allows IOP measurements to be taken while the patient is supine, reclined, and sitting. Eye-care providers can customize glaucoma management based on comprehensive, real-world IOP information.
“Our R&D department has made significant advancements to the Icare Home2 tonometer,” said President/CEO of Icare USA John Floyd in a news release. “Patients can collect real-world IOP data at any time and with ease.”
IOP data measured by the Icare Home2 tonometer is stored in the cloud-based Icare Clinic software. Physicians’ reports provide an in-depth overview of changes in patients’ IOP status. With the novel Patient2 mobile app, patients can more efficiently share IOP measurements via bluetooth using their smartphone for their eye-care provider to review.
