In 36-month data presented at ASCRS, Richard A. Lewis, MD, reported that 100% of the trabeculotomies created with a femtosecond laser–guided high-precision trabeculotomy (FLigHT) using the ViaLase system (ViaLase) were unobstructed on gonioscopy examination, with no peripheral anterior synechia or iris incarceration.
In 2020, 18 eyes of 12 patients with mild to advanced open-angle glaucoma and no prior glaucoma treatment other than hypotensive medications underwent FLigHT, with eyes receiving 400 pulses at 1080 nm wavelength. At 36 months, IOP was 15.2 ±2.5 mmHg (P<.001 vs baseline, 2-sided t-test) and mean medications were 1.7±1.3 (P=.30). There were no incisional glaucoma surgeries, and 2 eyes were treated for cataract, at 27 and 35 months, Dr. Lewis noted. “Further evaluation of FLigHT is warranted for both first-line and second-line treatment,” Dr. Lewis, chief medical officer of ViaLase, concluded.
