Hi, I'm Deb Ristvedt, DO, from Vance Thompson Vision in Alexandria, Minnesota, and we've just concluded our session for the morning on the Business of Interventional Glaucoma. We have had a full, packed room of administrators, optometrists, industry leaders, as well as surgeons, learning not only the why behind interventional glaucoma, but how to implement it into your individual practices.
One thing that truly allows me to practice interventionally is getting our team on board. So do you have a vision? Have you created that roadmap for your team and your referral network to be able to provide quality care and get everyone on the same page?
Number two, how are patients being educated? At Vance Thompson Vision, we hold community events, post on social media, and do marketing campaigns around patients that may be sitting at home and not in the optometry offices that are frustrated by their vision because of glaucoma drops.
Interventional glaucoma is procedural. We’re being more proactive than ever before to delay vision loss. And that's really the goal: Quality of life and quality of care.
There’s a lot to unpack in this, but those are the suggestions I would really offer. Number one, have a vision. Number two, education for your patients as well as your referral network. And number three, continue to learn, because we're ever evolving and interventional glaucoma is getting more exciting than ever. GP
