The first International Glaucoma Symposium will take place February 1, 2025, in Mainz, Germany, focusing on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in glaucoma diagnosis and management. Hosted by the Heidelberg Engineering Academy, the event will bring together national and international experts to explore the integration of advanced image processing and machine learning into ophthalmology.
The symposium will highlight AI’s role in enhancing optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging, enabling algorithms to analyze complex data for improved detection and diagnosis. Early and accurate diagnosis of glaucoma is critical to preventing vision loss, yet traditional diagnostic methods face limitations. AI-assisted techniques offer standardized, reliable large-scale screening of imaging data, supporting clinicians in detecting the disease at earlier stages.
The symposium will be held at the Mainz University Medical Center’s department of ophthalmology from 9 am. to 4 pm. Physicians interested in attending the symposium can register here.
