Virtual Vision Health has introduced visual acuity testing to its Virtual Eye VR platform, expanding its range of diagnostic tools, the company said in a press release. The update allows eye care providers to conduct vision assessments using a wireless, portable device, eliminating the need for multiple pieces of equipment.
Visual acuity exams measure the sharpness of a patient’s vision and are a standard test in prescribing glasses or contact lenses. By integrating this feature into its VR platform, Virtual Vision Health aims to streamline eye exams and improve accessibility for both practitioners and patients. The company’s technology also includes visual field testing, progression analysis, and color sensitivity assessments.
“Virtual reality testing is the future of eye care,” said Mark Latina, MD, of Advanced Glaucoma Specialists in Reading, Massachusetts. “The ability to conduct exams anywhere in the office makes this technology a game-changer.”
Matteo Ziff, CEO of Virtual Vision Health, said the company has installed over 1,100 devices globally and is focused on expanding its diagnostic capabilities. Clinical trials are underway to further validate the technology’s effectiveness. GP
