Topcon Healthcare announced a commercial partnership with RemoniHealth, aimed at expanding remote monitoring and connected-care capabilities in ophthalmology, with a particular focus on chronic retinal disease. The collaboration comes as Topcon accelerates its tele-eyecare strategy in support of a federal Rural Health Transformation initiative, according to a company press release.
Under the agreement, Topcon will combine its in-clinic imaging systems, artificial intelligence analytics, and interoperable digital platforms with RemoniHealth’s enterprise remote-monitoring technology. RemoniHealth has developed a platform that integrates home-based diagnostic and monitoring tests with principal care management services designed specifically for ophthalmology and optometry. The platform is intended to support continuous disease surveillance and long-term management for conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. By linking clinicians, care managers, and patients, the system aims to extend monitoring beyond the clinic and enable earlier detection of disease progression.
RemoniHealth's digital tests and AI-enabled workflows provide clinicians real-time, objective insights into disease progression while supporting Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) category I remote patient monitoring and principal care management reimbursement pathways.
In the press release, Topcon said the partnership creates a pathway to incorporate RemoniHealth’s capabilities into Harmony, Topcon's cloud-based connected-care platform. This integration, the company said, would give clinicians a more complete, longitudinal view of each patient’s disease trajectory to bridge the clinic and the home and enable more proactive, personalized care.
